NORTHERN LIGHTS

The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are a mesmerizing natural light display visible in the night sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions around the Arctic. Here's what you need to know:

1. What Are the Northern Lights?
   - The northern lights occur when electrically charged particles from the sun collide with gases in Earth's atmosphere.
   - These collisions create vibrant streaks of blue, green, pink, and violet dancing across the night sky.

2. Where and When to See Them:
   - Fairbanks, Alaska: By far one of the best places to view the northern lights. Located directly under the auroral oval, visitors can expect to see the lights on an average of four out of five clear nights during aurora season (late August to late April).
   - Best Months: The lights are visible at northern latitudes when it's dark outside, so the months from September to April are ideal.
   - Southern Hemisphere: There's also a counterpart called the aurora australis, which is visible in the southern hemisphere.

3. Fairbanks Experience:
   - Book a northern lights tour in Fairbanks to see the aurora from the springs and tubs at Chena Hot Springs Resort.
   - Explore other activities in Fairbanks, such as a ride on the Riverboat Discovery, gold panning, or visiting the Santa Claus House in North Pole.

Remember, witnessing the northern lights is a magical experience, and the right location and timing make all the difference! 🌌✨
